Crystal towers can be 4 to 8 sided with a flat cut base so it can stand and a single termination point. If a crystal is 4 sided it is called an obelisk. If a crystal is 6 or 8 sided it is called a generator. Towers are often used in the center of crystal grids, as well as  placed in your home or sacred place as decor.
